A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to store. This site uses as few as it can, and sets none for analytics unless you say yes.
What we set, and when
Before you choose, nothing is set. When you first arrive, no cookies are placed and no analytics are loaded. The banner at the foot of the page asks you to accept or reject. Accept and Reject are the same size and the same colour, because the law says the choice has to be a real one.
If you accept, we load Google Analytics 4, which sets cookies to count visits and to see which pages people read. They are set by Google on our behalf.
If you reject, or if you close the banner without choosing, no analytics cookies are set and no data goes to Google.
The cookies this site can set
| Name | Set by | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
bwp-consent | This site | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics, so you are not asked again | Until you clear your browser storage |
bwp-theme | This site | Remembers whether you chose the light or the dark theme | Until you clear your browser storage |
_ga | Google Analytics | Tells one visitor's device apart from another's | 2 years |
_ga_MZLY62M5SC | Google Analytics | Keeps the state of a single visit | 2 years |
The first two are not strictly cookies: they are stored in your browser's own local storage and are never sent to us or to anyone else. They exist so the site remembers your choices on your device. They are listed here because from your point of view they do the same job.
Changing your mind
Press Cookie choices at the foot of any page to bring the banner back and choose again. You can also clear cookies and site data in your own browser settings, which removes everything this site has stored on your device.
Google Analytics can also be turned off for every site you visit using Google's own browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Google Consent Mode
The site uses Google Consent Mode v2 with everything denied by default, which means the analytics tag is told not to store anything until you have accepted. Nothing is loaded from Google at all until you press Accept.
