Websites for students, researchers and academic professionals

In short

A single page that brings your work together, from research and publications to teaching, talks, outreach and your CV, at a web address in your own name. For students, researchers and academic professionals it is £299, fixed and agreed in writing before any work begins.

01 · Who it is for

A home on the web that stays yours

Whether you are a student building a profile, a researcher with work to share, or a lecturer, teacher or tutor whose name people search for, a page of your own puts it all in one place. A university or school profile follows the institution’s template, and it goes when you move on. A website of your own sits at an address in your name and moves with you.

It is the link for your CV, your email signature and the last slide of a talk. When a conference organiser, a prospective student, a parent or a hiring panel looks you up, they find the version of your work you chose to show them.

  • Your research, publications and projects
  • Teaching, talks and outreach
  • Your CV as a download
  • A web address in your own name

02 · An example

Evie Moss, philosopher

Evie Moss is a DPhil student in philosophy at Somerville College, Oxford, working on certainty. She wanted a professional home on the web for her CV, her research and her outreach work.

Everything is on one page, with a menu that jumps to each part: about, research, talks and works in progress, teaching, outreach, and her CV as a PDF. The illustrated skyline and the interactive map of her research go beyond the standard page; extras like these are quoted separately.

From first call to launch

Step 1

A conversation

We talk, by phone or in person, about your work, who the site is for and what it needs to hold.

Step 2

A written quote

You receive the £299 quote in writing, with what is included, before anything begins.

Step 3

Build, launch and look after

You send the words, a photograph and your CV. We build the page, you tell us what to change, and we put it live and host it.

06 · Get a quote

Ask for a £299 quote

Tell us a little about your work and who the site is for. We will call or email to check the offer fits, then send a written quote.

Which fits you best?
Your subject, and where you study or work. If someone recommended us, tell us who.

07 · Questions

Questions about academic websites

Who is the £299 price for?

Anyone in education who wants a personal website: students at any stage, researchers, and academic professionals such as lecturers, teachers and tutors. It covers a single page about you and your work. A site for a department, school, project or business is quoted at our standard prices.

Do I need to be in Norfolk?

No. We are based in Norfolk, but everything can be done by phone and email, wherever you are.

What happens if I move on?

Nothing needs to move. The domain is registered in your name and the site is not tied to a university or school, so it goes with you. Only the details on the page need updating.

What do I need to supply?

The words for each part of the page, a photograph if you want one, and your CV as a PDF. If you would like help with the words, we can quote for it separately.

What does it cost to run?

Hosting starts at £79 a year and a domain name is £13 a year for a .uk or £28 for a .com. There is no minimum contract.

Can it grow later?

Yes. A single page can grow. Extra pages, a blog or anything more involved are quoted separately when you need them.
