Website design for a clean energy technology company: MNR Turbines

We designed and built the website for Max Nicholas Renewables, developers of the patented MNR Turbines, explaining Continuous Maximum Thrust turbine technology to funders, partners and engineers in plain terms.

The brief

A technology company with a patented turbine and no product on the shelf has to be understood before it can be trusted. MNR's audience is mixed: potential funders and partners who want confidence in the team and the grants behind it, and engineers who want to know how it works.

The site had to make a complex technology legible without flattening it into slogans.

Our approach

The design follows the subject: deep water photography, restrained type and illustrations that explain how the turbine's enclosed design works and why it suits turbulent, shallow or river conditions. Advantages such as marine-life protection and a shallow draft are set out one at a time, with an illustration for each.

Credibility is carried by facts: a grants section documenting three funded projects, biographies for four leaders with backgrounds in oil and gas and banking, and full contact details including LinkedIn. The company registration number is on the page.
