Website design for a Norfolk pub: The Crown, Reepham

We designed and built the website for The Crown, a traditional Norfolk pub in Reepham, so locals and visitors can find the menus, opening hours, sports fixtures and beer garden before they set off.

The brief

A pub's website answers small questions quickly: are you open, what is on the menu, is the match on, can I sit outside? The Crown wanted those answers on the first screen, in the pub's own voice, friendly and local, without pretending to be anything but a proper local pub.

It also needed to be easy to keep current, because menus change with the seasons and opening hours matter.

Our approach

The homepage opens with the pub itself, the frontage and the umbrellas in the garden, under a gold “The Crown” title, then shows the credentials that count: a five-rated food hygiene certificate and a beer and cellar rating. The tagline does the rest: Real Ale, Real Food, Real People.

Menus are downloadable, main, lunch, Sunday and Christmas, so they can be updated without redesigning anything. There are sections for the sports TVs, the games room and the beer garden, and opening hours and a Google map sit at the foot of the page.

“Real ale, real food, real people.”
